When I came back from the launching of IKRAM, and met my brother-in-law, he asked me if I was attending the JKR's Ikram (yes, the JKR has this Institut Kerja Raya Malaysia), I said no, not that Ikram, and we laughed together. It was natural for him as he was an electrical engineer before, to associate me (civil engineer) with such organisation! Alas, this IKRAM is a new mega NGO which combines and consolidates expertise from diverse NGO expertise and experience. It is a meeting of big minds and spirits of dakwah, activists from social-based NGO movement, education NGO, medical group NGO, human-rights NGO, Islamic relief organisation and students movements. Its launching is new, but its track records derive from long experience of its founding members in NGO-based work. This is where I belong for my dakwah-social-community service activities. True to its motto, "Al-Ukhuwwah Asasul Izzah" - brotherhood, the foundation of glory- IKRAM calls and invites all muslims to unite and work together under the banner of ukhuwwah, through NGO perspectives.
