Look Mum, No..... Tyres!
This morning, all the tyres on Ahmad's car were gone! Stolen last night. The thieves were obviously after the sports rims because they could fetch a good second hand price. Ahmad was furious! We told him to be patient and recite innalillahi wainna ilaihi raajiun! Anyway, there is nothing much we can do about it because there isn't anywhere else to park except outside and the car will be vulnerable to theft all the time. Inshallah, l'm going to replace the tyres with secondhand tyres and normal rim so the probability that they would be stolen again is less. It was a new experience for us and we should be thankful to Allah for not having more serious loss. Many people even lost their lives for some very petty theft. Only last few weeks 2 women died in a ragut incident and the money in the stolen bag was only a few dollars!

How Do You Learn Tauhid?

I am obliged to write something on this issue because there are some people out there who are going around manufacturing the idea that if a Muslim learns about Tauhid using certain approach which includes the classification of Tauhid Rububiyyah, Tauhid Uluhiyyah and Tauhid Asma' wa Sifat, then he will be branded as Wahabi and that the learning is deviated. They even write and distribute booklets to publicise their campaign and worst still, some figures in certain State Islamic Affairs have been influenced by this campaign. My humble opinion is that, this is an approach to learning, just a tool of classification to facilitate learning, which can change to suit current needs of learning. The most important and fundamental part is the understanding of the Tauhid.
This is an excerpt from AbulLayth (Muthanna Abdul Halim) which provides a good explanation on this issue :
(Quote) :"With regards to classification of Tauheed, it's a matter of "classification". (istilaah)Yes, the classification had never been around during the time of the Prophet and the Companions, but so does any other classifications in other islamic sciences. e.g. the classifications of hadeeth: Sahih/Hasan/Dhaif etcBut say, you don't really like to classify that way, you can classify tauheed in whatever way you want as. There is no problem about it. The scholars say in the past: (There is no dispute in matter of "istilah"). Scholars of the past do have different ways to classify tauheed. Some divides into two: Tauheed Afaal Allah and Tauheed Afaal alIbaad or some put it in different ways. Some added another form tauheed to the three: Tauheed alIttiba' which means unity of following the Prophet. Some just made it one.The point for these classifications is to make it easier for people to understand aspects of tauheed. Secondly, what so wrong about the classification? If someone can't agree that we MUST believe in Allah's Lordship and we MUST worship Him and Him Only, then I doubt whether he is really a Muslim, because those are the very basic tenets of being a Muslim" (Unquote)
