Of Learning & Teaching

Life-long learning had be expounded by our beloved Prophet long time ago in his hadith : "Seek knowledge, from the cradle to the grave".

I am a proponent of life-long learning coz learning or seeking knowledge is a never-ending quest in an endless sea of Allah's knowledge (ilm).

With regards to learning & teaching, an Arabic proverb always reminds me of how to interact with people of various walks of life and their views on learning & teaching :

1. "He who knows, and knows that he knows. He is a learned man. Learn from him."


2. "He who knows, and knows not that he knows. He is oblivious. Wake him up."


3. "He who knows not, and knows that he knows not. He is a simple man. Teach him."


4. "He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not. He is an idiot. Shun away from him"

You may guess which of these 4 types of people are also called "bodoh-sombong".
